My cd-rom and Plextor writer are on the motherboard on seperate channels both as master and DMA will not work at all. If I enable DMA my Toshiba CD-Rom won;t stay set and my Plextor will not even show up in my computer..Sleep mode wont work suspend to ram wont work either. I don't even have a lot of software

All machines are 192.168.1.x, single subnet. I got samba to run - I can connect from a windoze box and access my Linux home directory, read and write files and to the Linux box to find the printer is now awake (was in sleep mode) but not printing. There is a file in /var/spool/samba just like you would expect.

Toshiba says they believe the computer is sleep mode, rebooting does not help, the butoon is not working , is there another way to check this mode, or is something else wrong. Computer boots up all drives spin, but the keyboard lights are on, the monitor light blinks as does the HD indicator. What are the options?

Where the problem is for me is the screen saver that activates on the log on screen seems to screw it up. i'm not sure why or how & i don't know how to prevent it but, if someone else out there does please help. this did help me as long as i don't let the s/s kick in. i just put the computer into sleep mode. hope

Well, after some tinkering i found the dead fan, and replaced the whole sync, not just that fan, and assumed that this was the end of it. A few days later, i was playing a game and the system shut down again, the same situation, signal being sent to the monitor was cut, as though it was in sleep mode or something

On tickless systems with working timers, msleep(1) now sleeps for 1ms, even with HZ=100. Most comments last time were favorable. The one dissenter was Roman, If not, I guess I'll let it go. Current msleep() snoozes for at least two jiffies, causing msleep(1) to sleep for at least 20ms on HZ=100 systems.
